Class VIII of the Plant Breeding Academy recently finished their second week in Davis. Selection Theory, Genetic Variances, Heritability’s, Accumulation of favorable alleles, Genetic Gain, Recurrent Selection, Chromosome engineering, to name just a few topics we covered last week. The class enjoyed getting together again, this time with all 20 students in attendance.

A new face around PBA is a new instructor, Jay Patel. Jay joins instructor, Kendra Armstrong, who started with PBA VIII in February, as well as Jovan Djordjevic, instructor and Director of UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy. PBA VIII Week 2 also included field trips to Syngenta and Bayer, both in Woodland, CA. We are thankful for their partnerships. PBA VIII is looking forward to Week 3 (of 6) this September.
